Material ConneXion continues its European expansion by opening two brand new Swedish offices.
NEW YORK and SWEDEN, November 5, 2012—Material ConneXion announces the opening of a satellite office in Tibro, Sweden and its fourth European location in Skövde, Sweden, (following Istanbul, Cologne and Milan). The inauguration of the satellite office of the world’s largest library of innovative, sustainable and advanced materials took place during the Inredia:interior 12 Conference held on October 31st at the Inredia house, while Material ConneXion Skövde will officially open its permanent space in January of 2013.
The opening of Skövde offers Nordic European companies the same wide array of material innovation services as the other nine international offices: materials research, material sourcing, new product development and innovation consulting.
The initial satellite office showcases a selection of 150 materials and is located in the Inredia building, located in Tibro, Sweden, a new center of interior design that will act as a hub for design professionals, manufacturers, architects and students. With an initial library of 500 materials that will continue to grow thanks to 30-40 new material additions per month, Material ConneXion Skövde is located in the Gothia Science Park, a technology and research center that focuses on creating an inspiring environment for entrepreneurs and companies. The development of this permanent library has been backed by IDC (Industrial Development Center), an organization focusing on production, marketing, competence and product development.
“The geographic location in Scandinavia and structure of the companies in this region, along with the environment in Gothia Science Park and the contacts and competence at IDC, were all extremely important factors in the opening of this Material ConneXion library,” said Thomas Nilsson, CEO at IDC West Sweden.
Skövde has long been a source of building materials with its natural resources of limestone and granite. With major engineering plants located in the region, as well as strong public and private sector enterprises and institutes for higher education nearby, this location is ripe with opportunity. The new library and consultancy has been licensed to conduct business in Sweden, and offer innovative consulting services also in Norway and Denmark. The global network offered by Material ConneXion Skövde offers creatives of all disciplines and industries enormous potential not only in finding material solutions for products and buildings, but also for companies that have created new materials and techniques who wish to have a greater international reach. “Material Connexion is an opportunity for global exposure,” says Anders Breitholtz, manager of Material ConneXion Skövde.
“Establishing a library and a satellite office in Sweden is an enormous step forward in the development of our group given the extraordinary amount of design and economic potential of this area,” says Adam Sandow, CEO of Material ConneXion. “The collaboration with ICD was key in finalizing the deal and we are eager to generate new business opportunities for the Nordic regions.”
“Our client’s businesses are extremely international,” said Michele Caniato, president of Material ConneXion. “In keeping with our company’s strategy of bringing a localized approach to international innovation, we are pleased to have expanded our presence in Europe, enabling a full service subsidiary for both European and North American clients ready to move forward with business in the region.”
